Bajinder Paul to Speak at FedScoop’s Lowering the Cost of Government with IT Summit

Bajinder Paul, Deputy Associate Administrator in GSA’s Office of Citizen Services & Innovative Technologies, is confirmed to speak at FedScoop’s Lowering the Cost of Government with IT summit on August 24 at the Newseum.

Paul joins an all-star lineup that includes DISA CIO Henry Sienkiewicz, NASA CIO Linda Cureton, GSA’s Martha Dorris, OPM’s Jerry Johnston and more. The event will feature top of the line information and great networking with government decision makers.

Paul’s bio:

In January 2011, Bajinder N. Paul was appointed as the Deputy Associate Administrator of General Services Administration (GSA) in supporting its mission of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies. Mr. Paul is responsible for leading modernization strategies that leverage innovation and cloud computing in implementing agile and on-demand IT infrastructure in support of government wide initiatives.

From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Paul served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). As CIO, Mr. Paul was responsible for leading all OCC information technology (IT) programs. Mr. Paul has spent over 20 years managing IT programs and organizations, both in the private sector and in the Federal government.

Prior to this, Mr. Paul served as Acting CIO and the Deputy CIO of IT Operations at the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) agency. At HUD, he provided strategic and operational leadership in delivering centralized IT services to the entire department to achieve HUD’s goals and objectives to promote citizen access to HUD services.

Mr. Paul’s leadership resulted in HUD receiving the Computer World Honors Program Laureate award for 2007 in recognizing the accomplishments of organizations and institutions that are creating the global best practices in leading the world’s ongoing IT revolution.

More recently, Mr. Paul was recognized by Federal Computer Week as a “Federal 100” in 2010 and 2008 as an “Agent of Change,” improving the government’s use of information technology.

Prior to joining HUD, Mr. Paul held key IT management positions at the Department of Justice (DoJ) and at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). At ATF, Mr. Paul provided strategic, managerial, and operational oversight of the Agency’s IT services and solutions. Mr. Paul’s leadership resulted in his organization receiving one of the Agency’s highest awards, the “ATF Director’s Maestro Award” in 2002 and 2004 for outstanding contribution to the mission of ATF.

Mr. Paul also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, where he teach es graduate level course in Technology management — Enterprise Modernization and Technology Assertion.

Mr. Paul graduated from Cornell University in 1981 with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. He received his Master of Science in Computer Science degree from the Johns Hopkins University.
