Gov 2.0 Summit 2010

September 7-8, 2010
Grand Hyatt, Washington DC

From open data to social media, from web services to mobile applications, from crowdsourcing to cloud computing, government is exploring the power of the latest wave of technology to lower the costs of government while increasing its capabilities. Last year’s inaugural Gov 2.0 Summit brought leaders from federal, state, and local government together with individual and corporate entrepreneurs, citizens, not-for-profits, and educators, to articulate and explore the idea of “government-as-platform”.

Gov 2.0 Summit 2010 will expand on the successes of the past year and push the boundaries even further. We will focus on using new ideas, processes, and technologies to work on “things that matter”, problems that affect people personally and directly at both the individual and societal levels.

Cloud-Enabled Government Conference & Expo

September 23, 2010
Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC

The Administration is taking an increased interest in the federal government’s move to cloud computing as a potential solution to capacity and complexity challenges as well as reducing IT maintenance costs.

According to INPUT’s projections, federal spending on cloud computing services will triple over the next five years, growing from $277 million in 2008 to $792 million annually by 2013. This would mean that by 2014, over $1 billion of the federal IT budget would be devoted to cloud computing. According to Market Research Media, cloud computing thus represents “a fundamental re-examination of investments in technology infrastructure.”

From a user perspective, cloud computing provides a means of acquiring computing services without requiring understanding of the underlying technology. From an organizational perspective, in addition to the cost savings, cloud computing delivers services for government to:
Support mission requirements
Provide unbounded scale
Deliver differentiated quality of service
Foster rapid innovation and decision making
Lower energy use
Offer better application availability
Participate in DGI’s 4th Cloud Computing Conference — which is free for government professionals — and position your company as a thought-leader for improving agency performance and controlling costs of delivering IT resources

NASCIO 2010 Annual Conference

September 26 – 29, 2010
Loew’s Miami Beach Hotel, Miami FL

NASCIO conferences provide a unique opportunity for state government and corporate members to discuss the issues facing the information technology field in the public and private sector. These events offer members a break from the many conferences that promote the marketing and sale of products or services through trade shows and exhibitions. Instead, we invite our corporate participants to sit side-by-side with state attendees to discuss trends and build relationships. There is no better place to do this in a non-product-marketing forum. Educational programs are centered on information technology issues that affect the public and private sectors. By bringing together all interested parties, association members can map strategies, develop positions and act responsibly for the benefit of all involved.
