The Office of Naval Research has developed a universal gateway which collapses the more than 30 interconnections used to connect combat systems and command and control systems on a Navy vessel into one portal.
The Universal Gateway can rapidly automate data integrate, enhance information assurance and reduce manpower workloads and cost, the Navy said.
Additionally, the gateway can be put between any different networks, despite their classification levels, so information is available in a timely and effective way for warfighters.
