Make room in your closet for hints of Sea Fog, Sangria and Mauve Mist. Or, if you don’t speak Pantone, the color purple is going to be really popular this fall.
Just in time for New York Fashion Week, the world leaders of chromo released its 2014 list of hot hues. Shades fall under the stem of Radiant Orchid — the 2014 Color of the Year — varying in tones of violet and red, with a dash of warm yellow for good measure.
For women, Sangria is the No. 1 color for autumn. It’s described as “an exotic red that evokes a sense of glamorous adventures and faraway destinations” and pairs perfectly with Aurora Red, which is considered more sophisticated.
Because there has been a gradual shift toward a unisex color palette in recent fashion seasons, men can wear Aurora Red too, but the top tone for men is Sea Fog, a more masculine shade of Mauve Mist.
