Take a Hike: NPS Announces 2012 Fee-free Dates

The U.S. National Park Service has released dates for the 17 days it will waive entrance fees in 2012. In addition to the “fee-free” dates, the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Forest Service also announced dates on waived fees.

According to the announcement, in 2009, “recreation in national parks, refuges, and other public lands fueled nearly $55 billion in economic activity and supported 440,000 jobs.”

Fee-free dates:

  • January 14-16
  • April 21-29
  • June 9
  • September 29
  • November 10-12
