ML for patent processing

The Patent and Trademark Office sent its top engineers to Google on the East and West coasts to learn more about machine learning and TensorFlow application programming interfaces. As a result, those engineers are now using Python with TensorFlow to apply ML to patent classification, search and quality. “We immersed them in the culture, and they got Googly,” CIO Jamie Holcombe said during an ACT-IAC event Wednesday. “They got certified in TensorFlow, which is the open-source library for a lot of neural network feedback loops.” Dave Nyczepir has more.

GSA re-awards spots on $5.5B 2GIT contract

The General Services Administration re-awarded 79 spots on its $5.5 billion Second Generation IT (2GIT) contract allowing all levels of government to buy IT hardware and software products and services. New PDF solutions that pave a smoother path to digitizing documents

Government agencies have been trying to reduce their reliance on paper for decades. However, as of last year, congressional reports show that agencies are still processing millions of paper forms a year. While hampered by a number of challenges, new PDF editing solutions are making it easier and more cost-effective to take an enterprise-wide approach to digitize documents.
