A new CMMC bottleneck

Before defense contractors can start to hire licensed assessors to inspect their networks under the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), there have to be licenses assessors. But according to companies waiting to go through the process to become Certified Third-Party Assessor Organizations (C3PAOs), there's a bottleneck. Four people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named said they also were told initial audits were difficult and taking longer than expected; one source directly familiar with the matter pointed to the maturity documentation associated with level three as what was tripping some up. EIS team developing NaaS

The team leading the rollout of the $50 billion Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions program is developing a network-as-a-service (NaaS) offering, said Allen Hill, the deputy assistant commissioner of category management at the General Services Administration. NaaS will move agencies to a cloud business model allowing for continuous modernization of network infrastructure, similar to what’s been done for email and collaboration tools, Hill said. TMF on the scorecard?

Federal IT advocates are pushing for Technology Modernization Fund to be included as part of Congress' FITARA scorecard. While not every agency has applied for or received some of the $1 billion injected into the TMF last month, those that do could be rewarded on the FITARA scorecard in some way, said Kevin Walsh, director of IT and cybersecurity issues at the Government Accountability Office, during a House subcommittee hearing last week.
