Modernization is about “pursuit of advantage ” for DOD, says Peter Ranks
At the Department of Defense, IT modernization is about “deciding where we need to be world-class and where we can be good enough. And where we can be good enough, we’re going to partner with commercial industry as much as we can and adopt the solutions they’re providing,” said Peter Ranks, deputy CIO for information enterprise.
On the other hand, “where we need to be world-class are those areas where we think we can identify a competitive advantage. Our modernization program is about the pursuit of advantage in areas that are of high interest to the agency or the department,” Ranks said.
Ranks goes on in this exclusive interview to describe the impacts of IT modernization on the warfighter, artificial intelligence development and much more.
