In a letter to four Senate and House lawmakers, the Alliance for Digital Innovation throws its weight behind legislation to raise purchase and acquisition thresholds for agencies.

The proposed legislation replicates the SAMOSA Act, which was proposed in September.

The Alliance for Digital Innovation (ADI) in a missive called for lawmakers to adopt language that would provide $100 million for the Technology Modernization Fund.

The now-excised section 6722 was earlier criticized by industry as “vague” and “internally inconsistent.”

ADI also says the defense spending bill should include language to reform FedRAMP and FISMA.

Four tech trade bodies warn that the legislation could impose duplicative requirements on software vendors.

ADI says the greater funding flexibility would allow all government agencies to take on larger, enterprise-wide IT modernization projects.

USDS is rethinking acquisition policies and behaviors that will have ripple effects across the agencies it's helping modernize.

The role is currently politically appointed but does not have statutory authority.
