Congressional appropriators tossed aside the Trump administration’s requested cuts at NOAA, NIST, NSF and NASA in fiscal year 2026 funding bills released Monday.

The legislation from Sens. Fetterman and Budd would codify existing National Science Foundation proposals and align with provisions in the Trump admin’s AI Action Plan.
A bipartisan bill would launch AI hubs across the country, and authorize NSF to award AI studies scholarships and create fellowships for AI professional development.
