IBM’s Andrew Fairbanks says IT modernization is about three things. First, it helps agencies take advantage of new technology to reduce costs to the agencies and taxpayers. Second, it allows them to find more efficient ways of using technology to solve problems. And third, it simplifies skills that are needed to maintain the IT enterprise.
“I think technology has enabled citizens to really adopt much more of a self-service approach to how they interact with the government,” Fairbanks said in an interview at the IT Modernization Summit.
