Splunk’s Stephan Mitchev on quantum security risks                      

Stephan Mitchev, Field CTO at Splunk, discussed the evolution of AI in agencies, highlighting the democratization of machine learning through generative AI, which has improved internal productivity and public engagement via AI assistants and bots. He emphasized the importance of NIST’s new cryptographic standards to protect data from quantum computing threats, noting that 60% of leaders know the imminent risk, and 12% are already preparing. Mitchev stressed the urgency of addressing this issue due to adversaries’ potential to decrypt future data. He also mentioned that Splunk and Cisco are developing solutions to manage quantum-resistant cryptography keys.
