Department of Defense Chief Information Officer Teri Takai released a new department policy focused on Internet services and Internet-based capabilities.
The policy assigns responsibilities and provides instructions for establishing, operating and maintaining DOD Internet services on unclassified networks, as well as the use of Internet-based capabilities to collect, disseminate, store and otherwise process unclassified DOD information.
It applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, military departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, combatant commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the DOD, defense agencies, DOD field activities, and all other organizational entities within the DOD.
