Administrator Brandon Williams said cloud services help the government keep pace with industry, as the agency announced its first enterprise environment for secret/restricted data.

During an event Thursday, the National Nuclear Security Administration’s CIO said he wants to spend money as efficiently as possible.

The technology was “used in place of a large team that would be required for coding and development of emergency services facilitation,” according to DOE’s AI inventory.

The initial phase is designed to validate core AI concepts and will inform the design of the broader initiative, a spokesperson told FedScoop.

The $28 million-plus investment will go toward projects that leverage machine learning, data sharing, AI infrastructure and more.

The market research announcement will be used to inform the Trump administration’s "Genesis Mission” announced late last month, the agency said.

The system is already deployed on Claude traffic, the company says.
