FDsys sees 1 billion retrievals

2014_04_Screen-Shot-2014-04-08-at-10.47.43-AMThe Government Printing Office’s Federal Digital System has met an important milestone: 1 billion document retrievals.

Since its launch in 2009, FDsys has been publishing information on the three branches of the federal government. Retrievals are measured by how many times the content is viewed or downloaded from FDsys. The one billionth document retrieved on FDsys was a Federal Register notice from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The system has almost 1 million searchable titles, including the Warren Commission Report, the post-President Kennedy’s assassination tape recordings, President Nixon’s Watergate grand jury testimony, the federal budget, Federal Register, Code of Federal Regulations, and congressional bills, hearings and reports.

GPO will continue to add content to the FDsys, “making it the most comprehensive information repository serving the information needs of Congress, federal agencies and the public,” said Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks.
