Zients, OMB’s deputy director for management and the government’s chief performance officer, replaces Jack Lew who left to become President Obama’s chief of staff when Bill Daley resigned last week.
Zients served as OMB acting director from July 2010 to November 2010 between the departure of former director Peter Orszag and Lew.
