A number of prominent contractors made executive announcements yesterday.
SAIC announced that CEO Walt Havenstein will retire next June after nearly three years at the head of the company. Havenstein became CEO days after SAIC, a 41,000-person company with more than $10b billion in revenue, officially moved its headquarters from San Diego to McLean, Va.
“In the years I have been with SAIC, we have put a strategy in place for the future, and we have structured a more agile, line-driven company to execute that strategy,” Havenstein wrote in a note to employees. “You have given me every confidence that we will succeed.” A retired Marine, Havenstein also previously served as the president and CEO of BAE Systems.
In other industry news, Dell Federal hired George Newstrom, the former COO of Lee Technologies and former Secretary of Technology for the State of Virginia under Governor Mark Warner, as its general manager for defense and national security.
Also, GTSI appointed Jeremy Wensinger as its COO. For the past three years, Wensinger served as President of Cobham’s Defense Electronic Systems division.
