DOT’s Ankur Saini on scaling AI for smarter transportation networks
Ankur Saini, Chief Product and Technology Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation, discussed the importance of building an AI-ready data foundation in government. He emphasized the need for a robust data platform that collects and curates data from various sources, such as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s 60 applications. Saini highlighted the focus on mission-critical tasks, such as saving lives through safer motor carriers, and the need to reimagine work processes to ensure that technology supports these goals. He stressed the importance of scalability, resilience and interoperability in future applications, aiming to make interactions with the government seamless and safe for the 7 million drivers and 1 million motor carriers the DOT serves.
