Photo: General Services AdministrationThe General Services Administration’s Center for Excellence in Digital Government began a new weekly program Wednesday that entails a guest tweeter taking over the office’s flagship Twitter account, @GovNewMedia.
Every Wednesday afternoon, a different representative from GSA will discuss their programs and answer questions on Twitter.
“Through engagement-focused use of social media, Federal agencies can not only better achieve strategic goals through more efficient outreach, operations and feedback, but also help tear down silos within organizations,” writes GSA Social Media Lead Justin Herman.
“We’ve shared some best practices on Twitter town halls recently, as teams across government continue to find new and unique ways to strategically approach their Twitter activities,” he said. “We encourage agencies to further explore putting social media’s benefits within reach of your programs, and if you have a Guest Tweeter program please share with us as we curate best practices.”
