GSA seeks deputy CIO
The General Services Administration is looking to fill a void in its deputy chief information officer position.
The agency wants to hire someone to assist CIO David Shive. The person chosen would be responsible for leading GSA’s daily IT operations, according to a job listing on USAJobs.gov.
Shive was deputy CIO of GSA until he was promoted in an acting capacity when former CIO Sonny Hashmi left the agency in March to join cloud storage company Box. He moved into the official post this summer.
The deputy CIO at GSA is responsible for managing five different portfolios, the listing says: the Office of the Deputy CIO and its Enterprise Data Management Office, the Office of Governmentwide and Enterprise Solutions, the Office of Enterprise Infrastructure Operations, the Office of Enterprise Planning and Governance, and the Management Services Division. Those areas account for about 50 percent of GSA’s IT operations.
In addition to advising Shive, the new deputy CIO would also help advise other senior leadership, like Administrator Denise Turner Roth and the heads of GSA’s service areas, such as the Federal Acquisition Service and the Public Buildings Service.
The listing is open until Sept. 4. The job pays between $121,956 and $175,420.
