The Social Security Administration selected HiSoftware’s Compliance Sheriff product for deployment across its intranet and public-facing website, the company announced on Tuesday.
HiSoftware’s product will help ensure that all SSA-hosted Web content is in compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards, as well as other regulatory controls for the protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Sensitive Security Information (SSI), and Protected Health Information (PHI) via automated content monitoring, detection and reporting.
Once deployed, Compliance Sheriff will provide real-time issue identification as well as an overall picture of Web accessibility and privacy compliance across the agency’s network of digital properties, according to the company.
“SSA has done a tremendous job bringing together multiple internal constituents – including representatives from their accessibility, privacy and information technology teams – to design and execute a content compliance program that will serve a wide array of audiences both inside and outside the agency,” said Dana Simberkoff, vice president of public sector for HiSoftware.
She continued, “Today the SSA manages private data for nearly 100% of the US population. With this significant responsibility, and in concert with their goals to move more and more services online, the SSA is uniquely suited to tackle the problem of online accessibility, privacy and site quality in a proactive way. With this project, they are serving as an important role model for other agencies, as well as private sector organizations serving similar communities.”
12 of the 15 largest federal agencies currently utilize HiSoftware’s solutions for Web content compliance.
HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff provides federal agencies and other public sector organizations with a way to monitor online content across any Web property, intranet or SharePoint site for potential compliance issues and keeping information within regulatory guidelines.
Compliance Sheriff’s content-aware rules engine allows organizations to consistently address regulatory mandates and other content governance issues such as privacy, Web accessibility, site quality and OPSEC information assurance based on hundreds of pre-defined checkpoints.
