New White House Memo on Federal Engagement

A new White House memorandum outlines principles for federal engagement in standards activities that address national priorities.

The memo includes several recommendations from a National Science and Technology Council October 2011 report, developed with public input and discussion, and builds upon the best practices followed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in accelerating the development of standards for such national priorities as the Smart Grid, Health IT and National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, wrote Federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra and Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology Patrick Gallagher on the White House blog.
