White House Highlights Open Government Efforts

In conjunction with Sunshine Week, a national initiative focused on the importance of open government and freedom of information, the White House highlighted its efforts on these fronts in a new blog post written by Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Cass Sunstein and federal Deputy Chief Technology Officer Chris Vein.

Sunstein and Vein provide an update on the implementation of the U.S. National Action Plan on Open Government that President Obama unveiled last September, as well as efforts from the White House’s “We the People” online petition platform to the new ethics.gov website launched last week.

“We have made significant progress on other initiatives as well, and as we implement these and other initiatives, the Administration will continue to work closely with the public and civil society organizations,” Sunstein and Vein wrote.
