The Defense Information Systems Agency recently achieved initial operating capability for its cloud brokerage system that will help the Defense Department and its components secure cloud-computing capabilities, the agency announced Tuesday.
The agency now has the framework to complete its mission of bringing DOD secure and dependable cloud services that fit inside the Joint Information Environment, the agency said.
Along with reaching IOC, DISA has also established a process for gathering and assessing mission partner requirements, evaluation criteria for service offerings to include recommended contract requirements, criteria for matching mission partner requirements to the appropriate offerings, an enterprise cloud service catalog and a cloud security model, the agency said.
DISA has also leveraged the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program model by performing cybersecurity assessments on two commercial cloud services.
Approval for use of these two commercial cloud services for information approved for public release is imminent, the agency said.
Going forward, DISA will look to evolve and further automate the cloud service request process. That will include incorporating new offerings into the service catalog.
