Over the past week, the White House has been gaining an average of 3,100 Twitter followers per day, an increase of 37%, thanks to the daily online ‘Office Hours’ chats with senior economic officials.
Additionally, @WhiteHouse is averaging more than 5,000 Twitter mentions a day, up from just 900 per day in the two months before the chats started.
According to the website Hashtracking.com, thousands of tweets using the hashtag #WHChat generated over 33 million impressions reaching an audience of nearly 10 million followers as of Friday, the White House said.
