OPM looks for new deputy CIO
Fresh off naming a new chief information officer earlier this month, the Office of Personnel Management is looking for a new deputy CIO.
In a Aug. 17 job listing on USAJobs.gov, OPM is looking for someone to serve as a principal adviser to the CIO, as well as coordinate information technology plans and policies for the agency and provide day-to-day management of the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
The job, which would be a senior executive service role, will be responsible for a number of initiatives, including managing relationships with vendors, contractors, and other external business partners — along with developing a workforce strategy that attracts and retains top-notch cybersecurity talent.
Earlier this month, OPM named Dave DeVries as its permanent CIO.
OPM has been without a permanent CIO since February, when Donna Seymour stepped down from the position and retired from government amid the fallout of the massive breach of agency systems announced the summer before that compromised the information of more than 21 million people. Lisa Schlosser, deputy federal CIO at OMB and deputy administrator of the Office of E-Government, had filled the position in the interim since March.
The job requires a top-secret security clearance. The salary ranges from $123,175 to $185,100.
The agency is accepting applications until Sept. 19.
