For those who think departing U.S. Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra’s work over the past two years was all for naught, think again.
In a blog post titled ‘Vivek’s Legacy,’ Homeland Security CIO and Vice Chair of the Federal CIO Council Richard Spires delivers an emphatic message to the government technology community that Kundra “has changed the dialogue and viewpoint of agencies of the Federal government – and we will not go back.”
Spires commended Kundra for his efforts to modernize federal government IT through cloud computing, data center consolidation and IT program management, as well as his willingness to reach out and work with the federal IT community and develop a strategic plan and roadmap which led to the 25 Point Implementation Plan to Reform Federal IT Management.
“While the 25-point implementation plan was driven by Vivek, it reflects the collective views of the Federal CIO community on what needs to be fixed. I can write with conviction that this community, as represented by the Federal CIO Council, not only endorses the 25-point implementation plan, but will continue to execute and meet the schedule as outlined in the plan,” writes Spires.
