Navy launches Innovation Awards Program
Know something or someone pushing the envelope when it comes to innovation inside the Navy? The department’s secretary would like to hear from you.
Under its new Innovation Awards Program, the Navy wants to acknowledge the people and projects pushing inventive ideas inside the department.
“I want to recognize the top naval innovators in our workforce today and inspire future innovators to continue developing their bold ideas for the future,” Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said in a release.
Mabus hopes the awards encourage innovators across the Navy.
Awards will be given out in the fields of robotics, data analytics and additive manufacturing. There will also be awards for innovative leaders, top academic achievements by naval officers, solutions created by enlisted officers and pioneering ideas that span the entire branch.
Nominations are open until Oct. 31. Winners are expected to be announced in January 2016.
