Federal CIO Vivek Kundra plans to cancel at least two of his open government programs – FedSpace and The Citizen Services Dashboard – as a result of significant cuts to the electronic government fund during the most recent budget negotiations, Federal News Radio first reported.
In a letter to Senator Tom Carper, Kundra says data.gov, the IT dashboard and usaspending.gov will continue on, but won’t be able to operate at full capacity because of budget cuts.
“We will not be able to fund development efforts to improve data accuracy through automation or streamlining,” writes Kundra, “nor will funds be able to increase transparency.”
As for the canceled programs, FedSpace is a collaboration platform in beta aimed at helping federal employees solve problems. The Citizen Services Dashboard was a project aimed at providing information on the quality of federal services.
