Navy Releases $10 Billion NGEN Draft Solicitation

The U.S. Navy released a draft solicitation for the Next Generation Enterprise Network.

The draft for the $10 billion contract was released on March 16 and is open for comments until March 30.

With the release of new draft, the Navy is asking for comments from industry on three specific items:

  1. Any area where we are asking for a service that exceeds and will significantly drive price beyond what is normally provided by your company tothe majority of your customers.
  2. Any area where you believe that, by fulfilling the terms of thePerformance Work Statement, there is risk to continuous network operations or network security.
  3. Any area that you highlighted in your responses to the programoffice where you do not feel we have adequately addressed the concerns you highlighted.

The NGEN contract is a follow-on to the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet contract that was awarded in 2000, which provides IT services to 700,000 users in the Navy and Marine Corps. It is considered the government largest IT infrastructure contract.
