SRA International, a team under IT contractor CSRA, received a $163 million contract to serve as the primary integrator for the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Endpoint Security Solution program.

As the integrator for the ESS program, awarded on the General Services Administration’s Alliant governmentwide contract, CSRA will be in charge of leading the Defense Department’s detection, deterrence, protection and reporting on cyberthreats across its networks.

Endpoint security for the whole of the Defense Department is no easy task. It consists of work outside the Pentagon with the National Security Agency and the U.S. Cyber Command, the military services, and other various DOD cybersecurity programs, like the DOD CYBER Range and cyber “red team” support. According to CSRA, the contractor will be responsible for more than 3 million endpoints across the department.

The integrator will team up with subcontractors Microsoft and McAfee to “envision, plan, and deliver hardening and containment solutions for the Microsoft technologies across the DoD enterprise,” according to a release. “This will use Microsoft cybersecurity solutions to protect DoD from internal and external threat actors.”

Another major facet of the contract is the requirement that CSRA keep the DOD Information Network operable while deterring or neutralizing cyberthreats.

The contract will run for a year initially, with four one-year options to extend.

CSRA in July also won a contract with DISA to support DOD’s milCloud 2.0 on-premise cloud platform, with a potential price tag of almost $500 million.
