Fed-to-state update: Sonny Bhagowalia

Former U.S. Department of Interior Chief Information Officer Sonny Bhagowalia updates FedScoop readers on the latest developments in his current role as Hawaii’s CIO.

In an interview with StateScoop, he discusses the state of Hawaii technology, its recently-released 12-year IT transformation plan, enterprise architecture, including data center consolidation, upcoming open data initiatives, early successes, effective communications and the transition from federal to state-level technology leadership.

Prior to becoming the state’s first CIO in 2011, Bhagowalia served as deputy associate administrator for the General Services Administration’s Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies.
