Thomas SharpeThomas Sharpe is the new commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, the agency announced.
Sharpe was most recently senior procurement executive at the Department of Treasury, where he was responsible for agency-wide procurement policy, procurement career management and oversight.
“Over the past year, GSA has made significant progress toward refocusing on our mission and giving the American people the kind of efficient and effective service they deserve. Today we take another step forward in this effort by adding Thomas Sharpe to the GSA leadership team,” said GSA Acting Administrator Dan Tangherlini. “His experience as an acquisition leader both in government and the private sector as well as his work representing a key customer of GSA at the Treasury Department make him uniquely qualified to help GSA better serve all of our partners.”
According to GSA, Sharpe has 30 years of experience in federal IT. Prior to joining the Treasury Department, he was a consulting principal with IBM responsible for the marketing, sales and delivery of procurement transformation engagement with the company’s commercial and government requirements.
Sharpe takes over for Steve Kempf, who left in July on long-term medical leave. Mary Davie has since served as acting commissioner.
