GSA adds IT veteran Schweickhardt as tech adviser
The General Services Administration has hired a new senior adviser for technology, Reynold Schweickhardt.
Schweickhardt will provide strategic guidance to Administrator Emily Murphy on the agency’s technology transformation portfolio, according to a GSA release about his appointment. The portfolio includes interagency work to upgrade legacy IT.
Prior to his appointment, Schweickhardt served as director of technology policy since 2011 in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the House he oversaw all IT programs and worked across organizations on technology initiatives, according to the release.
Before his position in the House, Schweickhardt was chief technology officer, chief information officer and acting chief of staff for the U.S. Government Print Office.
Earlier in May, GSA signed an agreement with the Office of Personnel Management to upgrade its legacy tech as a part of its Centers of Excellence efforts to improve government IT, which Schweickhardt will now advise.
