Brig. Gen. Matt Ross
Federal Leadership
Brig. Gen. Matt Ross leads Joint Interagency Task Force 401, the Pentagon organization focused on countering small unmanned aircraft systems. The task force works across defense and civilian partners to develop and field defenses against drones, a threat increasingly relevant to military installations and public events. Under Ross, JIATF-401 has worked with the Federal Aviation Administration on testing and convened interagency partners to strengthen counter-drone coordination. His role requires bringing together technology development, acquisition, training and operational needs. The task force’s work aims to move effective defenses into use as drone capabilities and the risks they pose continue to evolve.
