The onslaught of major technology companies moving its headquarters to the Washington D.C. area to be closer to the federal government continued as Siemens has moved its U.S. operations from New York to the District, the Washington Post reports.
Siemens has roughly 62,000 employees in the United States, comprising about $25 billion in annual revenue. About 5 to 10 percent of that comes specifically from the federal government. Based in Germany, Siemens has more than 420,000 employees in 190 countries worldwide with $76 billion in global revenue.
Siemens joins CSC, SAIC and Northrop Grumman as technology companies who all have moved or are planning to move headquarters to the metro area in recent years. Volkswagen North American and Hilton Hotels also recently moved its headquarters to the area as well.
