Qualys receives FedRAMP ATO
Another company received authority to operate under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program this month.
Qualys Cloud Platform was authorized Nov. 2 for use by the Department of Health and Human Services.
“The federal government is now moving at an accelerated pace toward cloud-based solutions to achieve greater scale and significant cost reduction,” Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO, Qualys, Inc., said in a release Thursday.
It took the company about 18 months to get certified, according to Mark Hutnan, vice president and general manager of U.S. federal operations at Qualys.
It is worth noting, however, that the company did not participate in FedRAMP Accelerated, Hutnan said. The accelerated system was designed to shorten the time to authorization.
FedRAMP authorized Microsoft’s Customer Relationship Manager Online — the first provider to receive a provisional ATO under the Accelerated program — Sept. 22. after only 15 weeks.
The goal for the new accelerated process is to get companies authorized in less than six months, FedRAMP Director Matt Goodrich said at the time.
