The Environmental Protection Agency has hired the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Sean Kelley to be its next CISO.

Kelley, who has served most recently as VA’s deputy CIO for account management of benefits and veteran experience, told FedScoop his last day is Friday before joining EPA next week.

Robert McKinney currently serves as EPA’s CISO.

Ron Thompson, who was recently named head of a new demand management office at the department, will also move to EPA, though his role hasn’t been announced, Kelley told FedScoop. Thompson served formerly as the no. 2 in VA’s Office of Information and Technology as principal deputy to CIO LaVerne Council.

FCW first reported news of the moves.

Like Council, EPA’s Ann Dunkin is one of the handful of politically appointed CIOs in the federal government who will resign as the Obama administration culminates Jan. 20.
