As the chief information officer at NASA, Linda Cureton’s days are filled with like network security and application modernization, but for the past few months she has been doing her best Hemingway impersonation off the clock.

Cureton sat down with FedScoop Radio to talk about the inspiration for “The Leadership Muse,” her new book that gives different “musings” on leadership and aims to guide people through their own leadership journey and inspire them to find the hero-leader inside themselves.

“We think a lot about the role of technology and innovation, but the real key to getting results is with those leadership skills,” Cureton said.

Leadership has always been a passion of Cureton’s. She said the book came from a collection of her own private writings on the subject and thinking about her own leadership skills and how to constantly improve herself.

A number of people made the suggestion to her to turn these writings into a book, which she did with the help of a developmental editor that guided her through the process of writing a complete book.

“It was a wonderful process,” Cureton said.
