Joseph Jewell

Joseph Jewell leads science and technology priorities within the Pentagon’s research and engineering organization. A researcher with extensive work in hypersonics, he has contributed to NATO science and technology working groups and was selected for the Defense Science Study Group. In his current role, Jewell helps connect the department’s research efforts with military needs and the development of future capabilities. His technical background gives him direct experience with the path from scientific questions to defense applications. At a time of intense competition in advanced technologies, his office plays a central part in identifying promising research and helping it serve national security goals.
